A fixture at the top of the lineup and the middle infield will be back in Dawgs' colours.

The Western Canadian Baseball League team announced on Tuesday that two-time reigning Playoff MVP Brendan Luther will be back for a third season with the Okotoks Dawgs.

Luther, a shortstop with the Bellevue University Bruins in Nebraska, has earned his reputation as a clutch performer over two stellar and banner-raising summers at Seaman Stadium.

The Mississauga native hit for a .344 batting average in the 2023 postseason with three home runs and 10 RBI, a key cog in Okotoks securing a second consecutive WCBL title in August.

Luther is the third signing the club has announced for the 2024 season and first for position players.

Southpaw stalwart Graham Brunner is coming back looking to build on his Dawgs Pitcher of the Year accolades from last summer in which he posted three wins and 42 strikeouts over 36.2 innings with a 3.43 ERA.

Seth Thompson, a hard-throwing righty who was the team’s closer in 2023, will be back at the friendly confines. The North Dakota State University hurler posted 29 strikeouts over 24 innings while registering a miniscule 1.87 ERA.
