Plucky Drillers rally to stall Mustangs

Thriller goes to five sets in 2-hour plus volleyball marathon

A lot of work, but it paid off for the Oilfields Drillers.

The Drillers battled to outlast the Highwood Mustangs 3-2 in a Senior girls marathon-like volleyball game in Black Diamond on Sept. 25.

The back-and-forth match took approximately 2 1/2 hours as none of the sets were won by more than three points. The Drillers pulled off a 25-22, 23-25, 22-25, 26-24, 15-12 victory over the High River high school in Foothills Athletic Council play.

Oilfields improved to 1-1 in the FAC after previously losing to the Holy Trinity Academy Knights in three sets.

More about the Drillers' thriller will appear in the Oct. 2 edition of the Okotoks Western Wheel.
