Okotoks hockey fans have a chance to witness history Friday night.

The Okotoks Oilers make their home debut as members of the BCHL on Feb. 9 at Okotoks Centennial Arenas with a marquee matchup versus the Spruce Grove Saints on offer. Puck drop is 7 p.m.

The teams split the season series during 2023-24 AJHL action with Okotoks taking the most recent result on home ice on Jan. 20.

The Oilers are looking for their first win in the BCHL following an opening 4-3 loss to Blackfalds last weekend and a midweek 5-4 defeat in a seesaw tilt with the Brooks Bandits on Feb. 6.

Spruce Grove defeated Sherwood Park in its lone game in the loop to date.

Following the Friday home debut, Okotoks is back on the ice on Feb. 13 against Brooks.

The 11 a.m. contest is geared towards the Okotoks school community.

Okotoks, Brooks, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove and Blackfalds will all play a 20-game regular season prior to an Alberta champion being crowned. The top team out of Alberta will then take on the BCHL champion.
