An Okotoks golfer teed off on a Classic title in Diamond Valley.

Okotokian Christian Hansen earned the Junior Boys title with a two-round score of 148 at the Maple Leaf Junior Tour SAIT Trojans Classic, Aug. 4-5 at the picturesque Turner Valley Golf Club.

“It’s always a good feeling winning, especially since I haven’t been having my best year,” said Hansen, in a MJT press release. “When I start to feel any pressure during my game, I just make sure that I keep my breathing routines going and try to not think of my score.

“My irons were feeling dialed in so that was a nice highlight this week and getting a par on hole 10 was great too.”

Hansen posted a score of 75 in the first round and bettered his score by two in round two, highlighted by birdies on 11 and 15.

His score of 148 was five better than second place finishers Matthew Mayowski of Drayton Valley and Aidan Fong of Calgary.

Hansen sits in first place with 300 points in the MJT Order of Merit standings among the Junior Boys after finishing as the top performer on tour in his age group in 2021.

In the peewee boys division at Turner Valley, Heritage Pointe’s Solomon Tong finished second with two rounds of 79 to end up six shots back of Calgary’s Jayden Arnold.

Next up for the MJT Junior Tour in Alberta is the MJT Edge School Summer Classic at Coyote Creek Golf Club in Sundre.
