The Okotoks Marauders season has come to end.

The Junior B Tier 1 squad was eliminated from the playoffs when it was doubled up by the Calgary Mountaineers 6-3 July 18 at the Murray Arena.

The Mounties’ win, coupled with their 8-4 victory over the Marauders on July 17 in Calgary, gave them a sweep of Okotoks in the best-of-three playoff series.

The Marauders jumped out to an early lead when Dominik Falica scored in the opening minute of the game. However, the Mountaineers battled back with three first period goals to make it 3-1 after 20 minutes.

Calgary would extend the lead to 5-1 in the second, before Sean Garlock scored to cut the Mountaineers lead to three goals going into the final period.

Garlock would score again in the final stanza, but it was too little, too late as Calgary advanced with the 6-3 victory.

The never-say-die Marauders made the playoffs by winning three of their last four games.
