Foothills' Fike moves to top in chuckwagon showdown

Blackie’s Jordie Fike moved to the top of the standings in the Century Downs ‘Winners’ Zone’ championship chuckwagon races after three nights in Balzac.

The Winners' Zone has the top 12 in the aggregate among the 36 drivers on the World Professional Chuckwagon Association tour coming into Balzac competing against each other over four nights.

The top four of those 12 drivers will race for $50,000 in Sunday’s final.

Fike’s 28 points puts him one ahead of Ross Knight. Layne MacGillivray is third at 26 and Okotoks’ Chanse Vigen fourth at 25.

Just two points back is Okotoks’ Mark Sutherland, who is tied with Kurt Bensmiller and Luke Tournier at 23.

Among all 36 drivers, the leader in the aggregate is Chad Harden. Fike is sitting in fourth place.

Okotoks’ Dayton Sutherland is 11th, Mark Sutherland 15th and Jason Glass of High River sits 20th.

The fourth night of races goes tonight at 7 p.m. at Century Downs.

The final is tomorrow at 2 p.m.
