Football players named to all-star teams

Two Holy Trinity Academy Knights will suit up for Team Alberta’s U-18 team at the Canada Cup of Football in London this summer. Knights running back Ryder Stone and defensive back Jordan Rae made the team after the final tryouts on Saturday.

Two Holy Trinity Academy Knights will suit up for Team Alberta’s U-18 team at the Canada Cup of Football in London this summer.

Knights running back Ryder Stone and defensive back Jordan Rae made the team after the final tryouts on Saturday.

Stone, a Grade 11 student, was the Knights’ MVP last season. He was selected for the Team Alberta last year as well. Rae, a Grade 10 student, was the Knights’ rookie of the year.

The team is coached by Okotoks football stalwart Bryan Branford, principal of Okotoks Junior High School. The Canada Cup of Football is July 14-21.

Senior Bowl

Okotoks will send three players to the Senior Bowl this Victoria Day at Foote Field in Edmonton.

Foothills wide receiver Taylor Brooks, the Big Rock Football League MVP, was chosen as a receiver.

Other graduating high school players include Knights’ defensive back Brandon Bellman and defensive lineman Matthew Thompson.
