The puck drops on the Heritage Junior Hockey League final tonight in Okotoks.
The Carstar Okotoks Bisons and Sylvan Lake Wranglers open the best-of-seven HJHL playoff set on Saturday, March 16 in a rematch of last year’s championship series.
Okotoks, two-time defending league champion, is going for the three-peat with the Wranglers organization vying for its title since 2010.
The teams were separated by just one point in the regular season with Okotoks taking both games in the season series, an early-season shootout victory and a commanding 6-1 victory in mid-February on home ice.
Since dropping its playoff opener to the High River Flyers, the Bisons have responded with six straight victories in downing their regional foes before a commanding three-game sweep over the Rocky Rams.
The Wranglers have had a similar run of success with a second round sweep over Airdrie followed by a four-game series triumph over the Medicine Hat Cubs, the second seed in the South, in the semifinal round.
