Busy weekend after holidays

Sport Shorts Coming off of the Christmas break, it will be a busy week for the Okotoks sports scene. Following is some of the action in the foothills area.

Coming off of the Christmas break, it will be a busy week for the Okotoks sports scene.

Following is some of the action in the foothills area.

• The Holy Trinity Academy Knights will play host to the annual Knights Classic Senior Boys Basketball Tournament on Jan. 7-8. The Knights will play their first game on Friday night at 6 p.m. with the tournament final happening Saturday at 7 p.m.

• The South Division-leading Okotoks Junior A Oilers will resume action on Friday, Jan. 7 versus the Calgary Canucks at the Centennial Arena. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.

• The second-leg of the Ladies Foothills Triple Crown, the Oilfields Ladies Open, will take place from Jan. 7-9 at the Oilfields Curling Club in Black Diamond.

• The Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Okotoks Junior B Bisons return to the ice on Sunday, Jan. 9 versus the Strathmore Wheatland Kings. The game will be at the Murray Arena beginning at 1:15 p.m.

• The Foothills Falcons Senior Boys basketball tournament is this weekend at Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks. The Falcons will play their first game at 2:30 p.m. against the Bowness Trojans on Friday. The Falcons go into the tournament as one of the top 15 4A schools in the province.
