Bisons take Game 1 of league final

The Okotoks Junior B Bisons won Game 1 of the Heritage Junior Hockey League final by doubling up the Blackfalds Wranglers 6-3 March 23 in Okotoks.

The Bisons jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second period, but the Wranglers were able to rope Okotoks in by tying the game at 3-3 early in the third.

The Bisons would score three unanswered goals in the final 15 minutes of the third period the last one an empty-netter to seal the victory.

Christian Chivilo picked up the win in net for the Bisons.

The Bisons can take home the HJHL championship trophy if they can beat the Wranglers Saturday, March 26 in Game 2 of the best of three final at Blackfalds.

If a Game 3 is necessary it will be played at the Murray Arena on Sunday, March 27 at 1:15 p.m.
