With another sunny and hot weekend in the forecast, it’s a great time to get outside and enjoy all that the Foothills has to offer. Here are some events to check out this weekend:

OKOTOKS SHOW & SHINE

Hundreds of classic cars will fill the streets of Olde Towne Okotoks this weekend as the Okotoks Show & Shine returns for its 13th year.

Organized by the Kinsmen Club of Okotoks, the popular event is made up of three parts – a burn out competition, a poker rally and show day.

The burn out contest is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday behind the Costco and will be followed by the poker rally that afternoon.

Capping off the motor-revving weekend is show day on Sunday when members of the public can stroll the streets of Olde Town Okotoks from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to view hundreds of cars. There will also be a family fun zone, food trucks, beer gardens and more.

Taking place at the Millarville Racetrack grounds on Saturday and Sunday, this year’s theme is Country Fun for Everyone.

The fair will include animal exhibits and shows, a host of competitions, including a tractor pull, live entertainment and even a rooster crowing contest.

CAVALRY FC

After dispatching the league's top team in their last match, Cavalry FC will look to continue their winning ways when they host Atletico Ottawa on Sunday, Aug. 21.

The 3:30 p.m. kick-off at ATCO Field will be a battle between two of the top teams in the Canadian Premier League as the Cavalry (10-4-6) sit in third place, one point behind co-leaders Forge FC and Pacific FC, and two up on fourth place Ottawa (9-5-5).

It will be the third meeting between the two teams this season, with Ottawa prevailing 1-0 in April and the teams playing to a 1-1 draw last month. Both of those games were in Ottawa.
