SWINGING GOOD TIME

Goodger-Pink Family Theatre presents its whimsical - and sometimes laugh-out-loud fairy-tale spin-off — The Fellowship of the Swing.

The pantomime play has classic fairy-tale characters such as Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Pinocchio, Rumpelstiltskin and others that will delight youngsters and the young at heart.

When: Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. ($5 special price); Nov. 30, 11 a.m and  p.m., Dec..1, 2 p.m.

OKOTOKS LIBRARY ADDS INDIGENOUS BOOK SECTION

The Okotoks Public Library will unveil its Indigenous Voices Youth Collection this weekend.

The library has added $2,000 worth of Indigenous book to its collection, which mainly geared to youth.

A highlight of the unveiling is a presentation by Chantal Stormsong Chagnon from Cree8 of traditional songs and storytelling as well as a Buffalo Story Stones activity.

When: Friday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Where:  Okotoks Public Library

Cost: Free

 

LONGVIEW ALL A GLITTER

Longview will be lit as more than 20,000 lights on fences, threes and village property will be turned on for LIght Up Longview.

Festivities will include a bonfire for free hot dogs, hot chocolate and Christmas caroling. The spectacular lights will be on display for the entire Christmas season and well into January.

When: Nov. 29, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

CHRISTMAS ELMA-STREET STYLE

Some of the oldest homes in Okotoks -- along with the coolest shops -- will be front and centre at the An Elma Street Christmas.

Vendors include include Deava Beadz, 94 Take the Cake, Sweat Pea Canning Co., Lost Valley Textiles, Drift Botanical, Angel-Mae Pottery, Hats by Kat and artists Ann-Christine Gurholt, Andrea Reinheimer and Andrea Theil.

When: Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Elma Street

 

A BEAUTY OF A TOUR

Take a drive and see some unique, spectacular art during the The Most Beautiful Art Tour in Alberta which winds its way through the Foothills.

The eight sites at this year's tour are the Leighton Art Centre (Priddis), Kristoferson Studio (Turner Valley), Mady Thiel-Kopstein (Turner Valley), Bluerock Gallery (Black Diamond), Firebrand Glass Studio (Black Diamond), Eversfield Ceramics (Black Diamond), Lineham House Galleries (Okotoks) and Okotoks Art Gallery.

Demonstrations and works in progress are featured at some of the stops.

A UNITED SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

The Okotoks United Church is hosting its Christmas Market, which will offer the best in crafts, ornaments and holiday stuff. Stay for lunch and enjoy chili, pulled pork sandwiches, homemade soup, buns and dessert.

When: Nov. 29, 3 to 8 p.m. Nov. 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
