A rosy affair

The Millarville Flower Festival returns to the Christ Church Millarville on July 13 for the 57th annual event that’s a feast for the senses with the church grounds, church house and cemetery adorned with bouquets of flowers and scones and strawberry jam served with tea and coffee.

The 123-year-old church is used for the CBC hit Heartland. The serving of the tea of scones, homemade strawberry jam and real whipped cream will be held in the Church House, which was built in the 1950s.

Fair in Okotoks

Getting the fair experience won't require going into the city this weekend.

The Okotoks Ag Society plays host to Jump at the Okotoks Fair all weekend with highlights including a wide range of activities from the Gyroscope, the Euro Bungy, Rock Wall, Water Wars, the RC race track and a wide range of inflatables. Those Mini-Donuts, a Calgary Stampede staple that wasn't at the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth this year, will be available at the Okotoks fair.

Admission is free, but there is a cost for activities, with different pricing options at $5, $10 and $25. Saturday's pancake breakfast at 9 a.m. is also free to attend.

On the Mark

Carolyn Mark presents her unique form of country music at the Westwood in Black Diamond.

Her sound is Loretta Lynn - with an edge. She's a popular performer at the cool eatery in Black Diamond.

Great dog eats

Gus's Pet Resort is hosting a pancake breakfast for dogs on June 13.

Activities will include games for Okotoks' canine friends, including an obstacle course race.

When: July 13, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
 

Stampede flapjacks

The Okotoks Stampede breakfast will get you fuelled for the weekend.

Festivities include horse rides, wagon rides, bouncy castles, mini golf, and more.

And oh yeah, there's bound to be a stack of pancakes on the griddle.

Lopez returns

Back by popular demand to the Tribal Connection stage in Okotoks is multi-Juno Award winning musician Oscar Lopez.

The talented guitarist fuses musical stylings with a latin groove. Lopez plays in Okotoks for two Saturday shows, starting this weekend and once again in seven days.
