The Western Wheel won awards in all General Excellence categories in this year’s Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association's Better Newspapers Competition.
The newspaper was awarded Best Front Page and Best Editorial Page as well as second place for Best Sports Coverage and Best Overall.
The annual competition divides newspapers across the province into four circulation categories; the Western Wheel competes in Class D, the largest circulation category.
The awards are judged by a committee composed of independent publishers from outside Alberta.
Further results of the competition, including Awards of Excellence in writing and photography categories, will be released soon by the AWNA.
