Ryan Randy Watson, 43, the individual involved with the Edouard Maurice shooting incident in 2018, has warrants out for his arrest on separate matters.

A warrant is out for a 43-year-old man who just recently dropped his $100,000 lawsuit against Edouard Maurice.

The Calgary Police Service issued a warrant on Ryan Randy Watson, it was announced on the services' #warrantwednesday site on Jan. 22.

The 43-year Watson has warrants for possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and fail to attend court.

Watson gained national attention when he and a co-accused were car prowling on Feb. 24, 2018 at Maurice's property south of Okotoks.

That evening, Watson and the  co-accused drove onto the Maurice property south of Okotoks at around 5:40 a.m. and rummaged through the Maurices’ vehicles. Maurice, who was home with his one-year-old daughter, gave a verbal warning and then fired a warning shot into the ground, which ricocheted and struck Watson in the wrist.

Maurice was charged with gun offences and his court appearances received national attention with hundreds of people supporting his right to defend his home.

All charges against Maurice were dropped.

Watson later pleaded guilty to mischief and failure to comply with a court order at Okotoks provincial court on Feb. 28, 2019. He was sentenced to 45 days in custody, but was released after receiving credit for time served.

He would later file a $100,000 lawsuit against Maurice. That suit was dismissed on Jan. 16 after an agreement between the two parties the day before.

The warrants are not related to the Maurice incident.

Watson is described as 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, with a brown hair and blue eyes. He has a large surgery scar on his right arm.
