Update: 50-year-old Manning man killed in pedestrian collision

A motorist attempting to pass another vehicle struck and killed a 50-year-old male pedestrian along Big Rock Trail on July 19. RCMP responded to the call at approximately 9:30 p.m.

A motorist attempting to pass another vehicle struck and killed a 50-year-old male pedestrian along Big Rock Trail on July 19.

RCMP responded to the call at approximately 9:30 p.m. after a driver in a 1998 Toyota Corolla was travelling westbound while attempting to pass another vehicle. The Corolla hit a 50-year-old man from Manning, Alta while passing. The pedestrian later died from his injuries.

The Toyota rolled and landed on its roof. The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance for minor injuries. The accident occurred about 1.5km west of Okotoks.

An RCMP collision analyst is working with Okotoks RCMP. No charges have been laid. Alcohol has been determined to not be a factor.

While investigators are not seeking any suspects in this fatal collision, they are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact the Okotoks detachment at 403-995-6400.
