Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 2 at 338 Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The call came in at approximately 12:40 p.m. June 17 of a collision in the southbound lanes involving an SUV and a mminivan. Upon arrival, responders found a third vehicle on the east side of the highway as well.

The collision occurred when an SUV attempted to cross the highway moving east when it was struck by a southbound pickup truck that attempted to avoid it and ricocheted to the east side of the highway, said Okotoks Fire Capt. Ryan Chigol.

A minivan travelling south was unable to maneuver in time and also collided with the SUV.

Three patients, two men and one woman were transported to Foothills Medical Centre, said AHS EMS spokesperson Shane Paton, in stable non-life threatening condition.

Update: as of 2:05 p.m. southbound Highway 2 was clear and open to traffic.

No further information will be made available.

Correction: the original post indicated a two-vehicle collision. Emergency crews later confirmed to OkotoksTODAY a third vehicle was involved and came to rest on the east side of the highway.
