A stolen pickup truck with two occupants hit an RCMP vehicle on Dec. 30 when Okotoks officers attempted to pull it over.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Okotoks RCMP spotted a stolen pickup truck in the 200-block of Southridge Drive. When police attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the pickup truck drove into the front end of the police vehicle and fled the area.

The stolen pickup was later spotted entering Calgary. It stopped in the Silverado neighbourhood, where the two occupants left the vehicle and entered a residence.

Cooperation between the RCMP, Calgary Police and the Calgary Police Dog Service resulted in the vehicle being recovered and two suspects being arrested.

The suspects were found to be in possession of numerous stolen items.

Chadwick Devaux, 35, a resident of Airdrie, was found to have multiple outstanding arrest warrants and has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Failing to comply with a release order
  • Resist arrest by a peace officer

Devaux was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks provincial court on Jan. 13.

Zoulton Bonin, 37, a resident of Calgary, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He was released to appear in Okotoks provincial court on Feb. 3.

No injuries were sustained by the officer as a result of the police vehicle being rammed.
