The Town of Okotoks has purchased a downtown lot for $685,000 officials believe could have value for the future. The lot at 8 McRae Street is adjacent to the town-owned Stockton Block and public parking lot.
The Town of Okotoks has purchased a downtown lot for $685,000 officials believe could have value for the future.
The lot at 8 McRae Street is adjacent to the town-owned Stockton Block and public parking lot. A building on the lot was home to a gym for much of the past decade.
According to a Town press release, the Town believed the property has potential for future development and strategic value.
There are no immediate plans for the property.
Town administration will evaluate options for temporary uses and present a report to council in the near future. Options could possibly include leasing the premises.
The press release stated long-term uses for the site will require a more detailed plan for the downtown and will incorporate the existing guidelines such as the Economic Development Strategic Plan.
The Town also said additional possibilities could emerge during the development of the Downtown Urban Design Master Plan, which would allow residents to take part in creating a vision for the future.
