Okotoks RMCP have laid charges against a third person in relation to a firearms and tresspass complaint at a rural residence near town last month.

The charges stem from a Feb. 24 incident when a homeowner allegedly shot a firearm while confronting two individuals he found rummaging through his vehicles. RCMP say an unknown number of shots were fired and the suspects fled the scene. One was later found with an injury to his arm and arrested, but police were not able to locate the second suspect at the time.

Thirty-year-old Stephanie Ann Martens, of Okotoks, was arrested without incident on March 13 and charged with tresspassing at night, theft under $5,000 and mischief. She has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on April 20.

RCMP say she is the final person who was sought in relation to the February incident.

“We’re not looking for anyone else, we believe that we have everyone identified that was involved,” said Cpl. Curtis Peters.

Okotoks RCMP have already charged two other individuals after the incident.

Ryan Watson was charged with several offenses, including trespassing at night, mischief, theft under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance and failure to comply with a probation order. His next court appearance will be at Calgary Provincial Court on March 28.

The homeowner, Edouard Maurice faces three charges of Aggravated Assault, Pointing a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6 at Okotoks Provincial Court.
