A Foothills area driver edged his way into the semifinals at the Battle of the Foothills chuckwagon races in High River.
Dayton Sutherland, who lives east of Okotoks in Foothills County, came off the no. 1 barrel in the seventh heat and turned in the fifth fastest tun of the night at 1:17.72 on July 23 to jump him from ninth to seventh place in the aggregate.
Kurt Bensmiller had the fastest time of the night at 1:16.21.
The top eight drivers in the aggregate after Friday's races qualify for one of the semifinal heats on July 24 in High River.
Blackie's Jordie Fike just missed making the semifinals as he was ninth in the aggregate.
