An Okotoks man pleaded guilty to robbery last week for his role in the violent theft of a truck from outside a house party in 2009.

Justin Boucher pleaded guilty to robbery in Okotoks Provincial Court on Jan. 26 and he will have to wait four months to learn his sentence for his role in the incident.

Crown prosecutor Darren Maloney ordered a pre-sentence report be completed prior to the sentence being imposed. A sentencing hearing has been set for May 26 in Okotoks Provincial Court.

The case dates back to Aug. 15, 2009 when a male went to sleep in his truck outside a house party near Okotoks. The male was approached by two individuals, one of whom was Boucher, and was pulled from the vehicle and assaulted. One of the pair stole the truck. Maloney said Boucher never went inside the truck during the incident, instead going back inside the house where he was later arrested.

“Boucher did provide a statement to police, he confessed to his actions and indicated it was his intent to assault (the victim) and take the truck,” said Maloney.
