Six residences evacuated due to fire south of High River

Six residences have been evacuated with the potential of 12 more as a result of fires south of High River.

One grassfire is an estimated 150 acres and is located south of Highway 540 between 32 St. W and Meridian Street.

There is another fire of approximately 200 acres in size between 16 St. W and Meridian Street.

If anyone is feeling threatened, they may self-evacuate to Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex in High River.

Fire departments from Blackie, Cayley, Longview, Okotoks, Foothills County, Vulcan County and Nanton are actively involved in the fire response.

Both fires are being held at this point.
