Okotoks RCMP are looking for anyone who may have seen people fleeing The Source after an armed robbery attempt was made at that store last week.

At 8:55 p.m. on March 23 a lone male walked into the Source in the Cornerstone Shopping centre with a firearm and demanded the clerk open the till. While the clerk was attempting to open the register, a suspected accomplice knocked on the store’s window, at which time the suspect fled the scene.

He got into a waiting vehicle and took off.

RCMP Cpl. Cory Forsyth said they aren’t sure what direction the vehicle drove towards. He is hoping someone may have witnessed the incident and can help fill in the blanks in the investigation.

“When they left we don’t know what happened, we know they left in a vehicle, but we don’t know what type,” he said.

The clerk was not injured and no money was taken from the store.

The suspect is described as thin, approximately five-foot-nine to five-foot-ten inches tall. He was wearing a white hoodie, gloves, a black bandana and sunglasses. He did not have any noticeable accent. He was also carrying the firearm in his right hand.

Anyone with information about this or any other crime is asked to contact RCMP at 403-398-4202. Anonymous tips can be made to CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
