A cash reward is being offered to catch the vandals who left thousands of dollars in damage in their wake at a Foothills driving range.

Art McKenna, owner of Oasis Greens Golf Centre, is hoping someone may know who was behind a case of senseless vandalism at the facility, located near Highway 2A and Dunbow Road.

Okotoks RCMP is investigating the incident and McKenna is offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individuals involved.

According to McKenna at about 3:30 a.m. on April 3 the culprits behind the vandalism broke in through the property’s west gate.

“They totally pulled the gate from its hinges… they didn’t use bolt cutters, they actually pulled from the centre, had to get the two six-inch posts that are cemented in to bend before the thing would break,” he said.

McKenna said the gate had been replaced just 10 days before hand and it would have taken some time to get in. After getting through the gate, he said they proceeded to damage the turf.

“They cut east through our property and on to our official turf, they did donut circles tearing up the turf, onto our natural grass tearing that up,” he said.

He said tires on two tractors at the facility were also slashed. He said they did not get access to the buildings on site and nothing was stolen. Anyone with information can contact RCMP at 403-938-4202 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
