The RCMP seized a number of firearms at a Black Diamond residence Thursday morning.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Oct. 7, RCMP members from the Turner Valley detachment executed a search warrant at a residence in conjunction with the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), according to a press release from Alberta RCMP media relations.

The Oilfields High School and C. Ian McLaren Elementary School were consulted prior to the search warrant execution and put in place secure and hold procedures.

RCMP Cpl. Tammy Keibel stated in a phone call that this was due to the proximity of the residence being searched.

The search was conducted without incident and a number of firearms was seized, the release stated.

The RCMP is declining to comment further at this time as the investigation is still underway, but an update is expected.
