A Priddis senior was killed when her car crossed the centre line, slamming into an oncoming truck.

A 70-year-old woman died at the scene of the crash on Highway 22 and 328 Street. The spot is a few kilometers west of the Priddis golf course.

Sgt. Jim Ross of the Turner Valley RCMP said the collision occurred at the top of the hill.

“There was a slight bend in the road,” Ross said.

However, investigators have not been able to determine what caused the woman to drive into oncoming traffic.

“The car was westbound and went into the eastbound land,” Ross said. “We don’t know why at all.”

Both cars came to a rest in the eastbound lanes facing the same direction. The car’s front end was crushed. The deceased woman had to be cut from the vehicle. Ross said her husband arrived at the scene following the crash. Police are not releasing the woman’s name until they consult with the family.

The two women in the truck were taken by ground ambulance to Foothills Hospital. One had life threatening injuries.

Turner Valley RCMP officers responded to the scene and were assisted by Cochrane RCMP and a collision analyst.

The highway was shut down for several hour. The collision is still under investigation.
