No money was taken and luckily no one was injured in an early morning armed robbery attempt at an Okotoks gas station.

A lone male walked into the Okotoks Fas Gas sometime during the early morning hours on March 16 at about 1:50 a.m.

The suspect pulled out a knife and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk refused to hand over any cash and a brief altercation ensued.

The suspect ended up fleeing the store on foot, heading to the west.

The clerk was uninjured and no money was taken in the incident.

Okotoks RCMP const. Martin Gaudet says it’s lucky the outcome was not worse.

“He is extremely fortunate,” he said.

It’s also a better outcome than a 2013 robbery, which saw a male working at the gas station stabbed.

He said police do not believe there is any connection between the two robberies.

The suspect in the March 16 robbery is described as a Caucasian male in his early 20s, approximately five-foot, five-inches tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt with black lettering on it, black jeans, and a black toque covering the upper half of his face.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 403-995-6400 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
