Okotoks residents warned of possible cougar presence

Okotoks residents are being cautioned about a possible cougar in the Sheep River Cove area.

The Town of Okotoks has announced there is evidence that a cougar may be in the neighbourhood.

Fish and Wildlife has been notified and warning signage has been posted at entrances to the natural areas in Sheep River.

Everyone is asked to use caution or avoid the area and ensure pets are kept on-leash.

Residents are reminded to call 911 if under duress by a wild animal. Anyone who spots a cougar or bear is asked to call the Town's parks department at 403-938-8958 and Report-A-Poacher at 1-800-642-3800.
