Okotoks chuckwagon drivers knocking on top eight in High River

Day 3 of Battle of the Foothills chuckwagon races tonight at 7 p.m.

A pair of Okotoks area chuckwagon drivers sit just outside of the top eight going into the third night of the Battle of the Foothills in High River on July 18,

Blackie's Jordie Fike sits in ninth place after two days of racing with his Team JW wagon with an accumulative time of 2:40.11. HIs second wagon, Shawne Excavation, is in 13th place at 2:40.75.

Meanwhile, Dayton Sutherland of Okotoks is in 11th at 2:40.47, 

The aggregate leader after two shows is three-time defending world champion Kurt Bensmiller at 2:37.73.

Cracking the elite eight after four days of racing is key as those drivers will go on to the semifinals on July 24,

Day 3 of racing is tonight at 7 p.m. at the High River Ag grounds. Day 4 is Friday, July 23 at 7 p,m.

Semifinal Saturday is July 24 at 7 p.m. and the final performance of the Battle of the Foothills, including the Dash for Cash final, is July 25, starting at 4 p.m.

Chuckwagon fans heading to the grounds are advised to leave early to avoid traffic.
