Some Okotoks businesswomen have been working in bliss for the past 12 months.

Bliss, a co-operative of businesswomen working out of an Elma Street location, celebrated its first anniversary on Feb. 9.

“We are a shared collaborative space for women in business to run their business,” said Brittany Prete, Bliss founder and owner. “There are so many of us (women) who are taking chances and growing outside of motherhood and family life and following our passions and our dreams.

“We felt Okotoks was a place that provide a home for all of these women to make their business evolve and grow.”

There are more than 10 businesses operating out of Bliss. Those businesses share an office space, which is open to them on different days of the week.

“It’s about utilizing your space and time and getting your clients in on your (the business’s) scheduled day,” said Prete, who runs Organic Tan Okotoks out of Bliss. “It is a space for any woman to operate out of here.”

The shared space and schedule allows Prete, a Foothills Comp grad, to also work full time at STARS Air Ambulance.

Bliss has allowed Katie Meisl to move her business, Got Sugared, to Okotoks from her Cayley home. She has been with Bliss since the co-op facility opened.

“Being in Okotoks it is a lot more convenient for my Calgary clients rather than being in Cayley”, said Meisl, a Holy Trinity Academy grad. “I found having a place like Bliss looks a lot more professional than having a business in your house.”

Meisl is a sugaring practitioner. Sugaring is a safe way for removing unwanted hair.

She works on Thursdays at Bliss and is able to fit all her clients in on that one day.

Prete said there is a team concept at Bliss among the businesswomen.

“We all have a very similar business model — we are all moms, we all have a passion and a dream,” Prete said. “We are a group of women who are not only business owners, but we are a community.

“We support one another and lift one another up.”

Team Bliss has participated in Okotoks events such as the Show ‘N Shine and Light Up Okotoks.

The businesses at Bliss are Organic Tan Okotoks, Pink Liberty Boutique, Maxx Beauty Lounge,  Hello Beautiful Skin Studio, Juventas Beauty, Apryl Jennings, Got Sugared, Nice Fits, Brittany Kolba, Ezer Photography, Pretty Little Lashes by Jade, and Revisions Business Services.
