MD of Foothills council is testing out a new schedule after returning from summer holidays, which includes moving their regular meeting date.
Council has moved its regular weekly meetings to Wednesday mornings from Thursdays, starting Aug. 29. The meetings will continue to start at 9 a.m.
“We’re experimenting with it,” said MD Reeve Larry Spilak
Spilak said it was sometimes difficult for MD staff to get started soon enough on items emerging from the Thursday meetings with only one day before the weekend.
“Often the personnel that you were looking to implement some of the decisions were not available on Fridays,” he said.
Spilak said it’s hoped the Wednesday meeting times will make it easier for administration to get started on initiatives or projects.
Meetings will be held on Wednesdays through to their organizational meeting in October and council will assess whether it has made any difference.
If it works, he said the meetings will remain on Wednesdays.
Council held additional meetings on other days of the week if needed and it will continue to do so in the future, but there are no special meeting dates planned.
