An Okotoks woman is facing several charges after a high-speed chase in Saskatchewan ended July 26 near the set of the famous television show “Corner Gas.”

Stephanie Martens appeared in Provincial Court in Regina on July 28 to face a series of charges, including three counts of dangerous driving and two counts of possession of stolen property. Martens, 27, also faces one count each of impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08, leaving the scene of a collision, and evading police.

A bail hearing has been tentatively set for July 30 after the Crown opposed Martens’ release.

Starting at around 10 a.m. on July 26, according to media reports, Weyburn police officers attempted to stop a 2014 Dodge Ram truck that had reportedly been stolen from Calgary but was bearing Manitoba license plates.

Although top seeds have not been released, a pursuit ensued along Highway 39 before Weyburn police and the RCMP called off the chase.

The truck was eventually located adjacent the set of “Corner Gas,” near Rouleau, Sask., where a movie version of the popular television series was wrapping up.

A suspect was found near the set and arrested.
