A president of a rodeo association went to a straight-shooter the first time he purchased a horse in the United States and needed it brought up north of the border.

“I used Kimberley Rae’s services a few times — and she always gave the cowboys a break,” said Murray McGonigle, president of the Foothills Cowboy Association. “She always made sure everything worked out — as she did for everybody — but I think she had a soft-spot for cowboys.”

Kimberley Rae Elliott, 57, from the Okotoks area, died as a result of being trampled by a horse at the North Dakota Equine Center on Dec. 3.

Elliott hauled horses for a living and she was top notch when she brought up McGonigle’s horse from Utah.

“She guided me through the process and she was seamless,” McGonigle said. “I know a lot of the rodeo cowboys used her services and it was always the same — seamless.”

Kimberley became well known on the FCA when her daughter competed on the circuit.

“She was dedicated to getting her daughter to events, jackpots…” McGonigle said.

McGonigle said Elliott was well-liked as she attended several of her daughter’s FCA events.

“She was a straight-shooter, which I have nothing but appreciation for,” McGonigle said.
