Holiday train rolling into Okotoks, Blackie

Loving locomotive has helped food banks across North America

The CP Holiday train is making a stop in Okotoks Dec. 10 at 12:15 p.m. just north of the Okotoks public library. (Brent Calver, Western Wheel).

All aboard for some Christmas cheer in downtown Okotoks and a chance to stock the food bank's shelves.

The CP Holiday Train makes a stop in Okotoks on Dec. 10 arriving at noon with a concert from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.

Headlining is Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer Terri Clark, who grew up in Medicine Hat.

Clark’s hits include You’re Easy on the Eyes, which was smash on both sides of the border. She also does a country-fied rendition of Warren Zevon’s Poor, Poor Pitiful Me. Clark was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2018.

Joining Clark on the Okotoks bill is Dallas Smith.

Smith has had several country hits which have charted in Canada.

The train will be stopped along Daggett Street between Northridge Drive and Veterans Way.

The Town of Okotoks is setting up two tents for at the site,  where the Okotoks Food Bank will collect food and accept cash donations.

As well, Cactus Club Spa is also participating by collecting donations at is place of business on Elizabeth Street.

Since 1999, the Holiday Train has raised more than $15.8 million and 4.5 million pounds of food for North American food banks. Everything raised in a community stays in that community. In addition, CP makes a donation at each stop.
