Hike of the week

Expect some steep sections, wind and early snow up Mount Hoffman in the fall.
Mount Hoffman
Be sure to sign the register hidden in the rock cairn at Mount Hoffman.

Trail: Mount Hoffman

Difficulty: Mid/high intermediate (some steep sections)

Length: 8.25 km (out and back)

Ascent: 550 meters

Trailhead: Head west of Turner Valley to the Indian Oils parking lot. Cross the bridge over Tiger Jaw Falls and take the old logging road.

Description: An unmarked trail swings to the right just before crossing an un-named creek bed. Stay left at the fork to Hoffman Humps. The trail becomes steeper, but will flatten out when you come to the well-defined path through a large blow-down area. Swing left when you reach the open meadow and follow the rocky ridge trail up to the summit. This area can receive early snow and be quite windy, but the fabulous mountain views, summer flowers and fall foliage are a sight to see. Make sure to sign the register hidden in the rock cairn!

Reminder: Take adequate water, food and clothing in the event of sudden weather changes. Ensure someone knows where you’re going and when you’ll be back in the event you get lost or injured. Hiking alone is not recommended.
