Dewdney Players' latest play Anne of Green Gables opened Friday night to a packed plaza in Olde Towne Okotoks as families gathered to watch the theatre company's first in-person performance since before the pandemic.
With an impassioned performance by Dewdney newcomer and Okotoks youth Lucie Killam as the titular Anne, the play featured all of the memorable moments from Lucy Maude Montgomery's classic tale.
Clever set design, as well as novel props including a rowboat moved around by offstage crew members, brought Avonlea to life for the all-ages audience.
Upcoming show times for the play are July 24, 30 and 31 at 7 p.m. and July 25, 31, and Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at 2 p.m. at the Olde Towne Plaza, running approximately two hours. Admission is by donation.
