Friendship agreement worth celebrating

Dear Editor, Thanks for the front-page story “Towns partner on pathway to success” in Oct. 31 issue of the Western Wheel.

Dear Editor,

Thanks for the front-page story “Towns partner on pathway to success” in Oct. 31 issue of the Western Wheel.

Black Diamond and Turner Valley signed the memorandum of understanding — a Friendship Agreement recently — a formal commitment to partnership and good will. There must have been some powerful peacemaking, reasoning, and yes, even prayer, behind this. A beautiful solution has worked out, even though the towns did not amalgamate when that was voted down.

We’ve got a lot to celebrate in this new agreement. Congratulations to all who have worked to bring this about. It makes sense economically too, as mayors Sharlene Brown and Kelly Tuck both commented.

We are neighbours. Good neighbours not only exist side by side, they help each other, and celebrate each other’s well-being.
