A Foothills County resident was notified of credit cards being taken out in their name when a bank called to tell them their card was ready for pick-up.

“The bank called the victim and said your credit card has arrived and its ready to pick up,” said Foothills RCMP acting detachment commander, Ryan Eckersley. “The victim was like I haven’t applied for any credit cards and I’m not up for renewal on anything.”

Foothills RCMP were notified on April 11, a suspect from Northern Alberta has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Eckersley said they ran a credit report on the victim and found out three other cards had been taken out in their name.

Charges have not yet been laid.
