Fire damages Turner Valley home

Fire crews from Turner Valley and Black Diamond responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17 for an attic fire.

A fire at a Turner Valley home was contained to an upstairs room as a result of quick actions by area fire departments.

Fire crews from Turner Valley and Black Diamond responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17 for an attic fire. 

Turner Valley Fire Chief Glenn Baxter said firefighters found smoke coming from the attic of the home on Windsor Avenue.

They extinguished a small fire in an upstairs bedroom and as of 9:30 p.m. were searching for any remaining hot spots.

The residents were able to evacuate, however as of publication time, one cat was found but could not be resuscitated.

Neighbouring homes were not in danger.
