A 45-year-old man was arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots at another person Jan. 16 on Eden Valley Reserve.

The incident occurred at about 6 p.m. when Turner Valley RCMP responded to a call that a male had fired several shots at another male using a shotgun, said Cpl. Terry Hamelin of Turner Valley RCMP.

No one was injured during the shooting, Hamelin said.

When RCMP arrived on the scene, the suspect had retreated into a residence. The RCMP’s emergency response team entered the home and arrested the suspect without further incident.

Officers found a 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition in the residence. The weapon was not registered, Hamelin said.

Darrel Oliver Wesley, from Eden Valley, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with assault, uttering threats, pointing a firearm, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

Hamelin said there is still no indication as to why Wesley was allegedly shooting at another individual.

“He wouldn’t talk to us,” Hamelin said.

Wesley was released on cash bail. He was set to appear in Okotoks Provincial Court on Jan. 25.
