An Okotoks man arrested for making ecstacy will serve nine months of house arrest for the crime.

Jake Bailey, AGE??) was given a nine-month conditional sentence in Edmonton court on Jan. 26.

Bailey was arrested at a west Edmonton hotel on Oct. 12, 2009 where he, and another Okotoks male, were charged with making and selling the drug ecstacy.

Bailey pleaded guilty to producing a controlled substance in November, 2010.

For the first five months of his sentence, Bailey will be under a 24 hour curfew for seven days a week, except for when at work and to buy the necessities of life. For the remaining four months, he will be under a curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Bailey cannot consume any drugs or alcohol for the duration of his sentence, he cannot possess any equipment or materials used in the production of drugs and he cannot have any contact with his co-accused.

Bailey is also prohibited from owning any firearms for 10 years.

Bailey’s co-accused, Josh Karkus, has maintained a not-guilty plea to charges of possession of a controlled substance, while charges of producing a controlled substance have been dropped.

Karkus will face a jury trial in Edmonton on Nov. 14.
