Birthday Girl (also known as Tom Barker) performs during the Kings and Queens Drag Show in 2021. The Kings, Queens and Everything in Between drag show is Aug. 26 at Hub Town Brewing in Okotoks.

The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Chinook Arch is hosting a drag show in Okotoks this weekend.

The ISCCA is Calgary’s oldest queer organization that hosts events to raise money for various charities.

The organization has participated in events since 2019 but had to stop for a while due to the pandemic. This year it's back raising money for the charities it supports as well as for the Inclusion Foothills Association, which has partnered  with Okotoks Pride to host the event.

“It's a good partnership with an organization that is similarly aligned to providing opportunities for inclusion in the community," said the Imperial Crown Princess of the ISCCA, Sister Visa Decline. "So we're happy to be a part of it. And it's always a lot of fun. The past several years have been amazing."

Decline said that every year the organization elects an Emperor and Empress who then appoint an Imperial Crown Prince and Princess and other house titles who all work together to plan and host events.

“We co-ordinate the fundraising activities for the year, so that could be hosting drag shows or showing up at events and selling tickets to raise money, having auctions or any sort of fundraising activity, we make a plan and do so,” said Decline.

The show, Kings, Queens and Everything in Between, is at Hub Town Brewing on Friday, Aug. 26 from 7 to 11:30 p.m. The event is all ages and people can purchase tickets online for $40.

“I think that it's really important to be out there and to be present and to let everybody in the community know that there is an event for them and a place for them,” said Decline. "A lot of these organizations in the community have really suffered throughout the pandemic. So anything we can do to support them and to raise money for important programming is a great thing.”
