Curling classic continues in Okotoks

The Okotoks ATB Classic continues at the Okotoks Curling Club today with C event rounds at 3:30 p.m.

The playoffs will start tonight at 7 p.m. with the quarterfinals. Defending Brier champion Brendan Bottcher has qualified for one quarterfinal spot and Jaap Van Dorp of the Netherlands national team has also moved on to the quarters. Their opponents have yet to be determined.

The semifinals are Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Kevin Koe, a four-time Brier champion and two time world champion, has secured one of the four semi positions, as has Ross Whyte, of Scotland, who went 3-0 to earn his way to the semis.

The finals are 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Curling Club. The winning rink receives $9,000.

Cost to attend is $5 a game or $20 for the entire weekend. Mandatory requirements to show proof of vaccinations when coming into the club are in place as the club is following the restriction exemption program.
