Two additional cases of the COVID-19 virus have been added to Okotoks' active load over the past week bringing the town's total number to 132, but it's not the only area with cases rising.

The Foothills County reported only 43 active cases last week (Nov. 17), according to provincial statistics, but as of Tuesday, Nov. 23, that number climbed to 55.

Meanwhile, cases in High River and Cochrane are declining, albeit slowly. High River has 25 cases recorded, down four from the week prior, and two people in Cochrane have recovered bringing the number from 60 to 58.

The province's interactive map still shows Okotoks as a hotspot with more than 370.3 active cases per 100,000 people.

In total, the town has seen 2,431 cases, of which 2,296 recovered. Three deaths have been recorded.

The Calgary Zone is 37 per cent of the province's overall total reported COVID-19 cases with 122,921.

This week, the province announced vaccination appointments are open to children ages five to 11 starting Nov. 24.

Appointments can be booked by calling 811 or visiting alberta.ca/vaccine.
