Oilers try to steal top spot

It’s a battle of first-place at the Pason Centennial Arena.

The Okotoks Oilers will try to steal first place from the Brooks Bandits when they square off this year.

The Bandits have been perched in top spot all year, but the two teams go into tonight’s game with 81 points each.

Weekend of movies

Don’t take in just one movie this weekend, enjoy several. The Okotoks Film Festival’s 2020 Oscar Nominated Short Films is showing movies, both live action and animation, both Saturday and Sunday. For show times and prices go to okotoksfilmfestival.ca

Laugh it up

Sit back and enjoy a Night of Improv Comedy hosted by Elizabeth Street Improv in downtown Okotoks. Multiple groups of two will take the stage featuring comedy duo Arts & Crafts, Humblebrag and two yet-to-be named duos.

Looking back

Stop by the Okotoks Museum & Archives to discover the cultural revolution of the Roaring Twenties. Learn what life was like in Okotoks in the 1920s in this unique exhibit.

Sound of music

Enjoy the talent of Christina Colyn in downtown Okotoks for a night out as she provides a rich and meaningful experience through music. Colyn’s sound has been described as both chilling and soulful.

Falcons soaring at home

The Foothills Falcons senior girls basketball team hits the court for the Falcons Classic this weekend.

The Falcons tip-off Friday at 12:30 p.m. against the Holy Trinity Trojans from Edmonton.

The final is 7 p.m. on Saturday

Bisons welcome Kings and Generals

The Okotoks Bisons may have clinched first-place in the Heritage Junior League, but they have a pair of tough tests this weekend.

The Bisons (32-2) host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings on Friday at 8 p.m. and the always tough Cochrane General (24-8-2) at the Murray Arena Sunday at 1:15 p.m.


Futsal at field house

While Kansas City and Frisco battle in that other football, the beautiful game indoor style is at Aldersyde.

The Anthem United Communities Cup is at Crescent Point Field House.

It features Tier IV boys and U11 to U15 girls.

Bow Mark back in town

The Bow Mark AAA Midget Oilers aren’t resting on their laurels after clinching their first playoff spot in team history.

They will host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Feb. 1.
