An Okotoks mother and son are spicing things up this summer at local markets.
The Spice Merchants’ Stephen and Mary Gollan sell 127 whole spices collected from around the world during Stephen’s global travels from Africa to India.
Their selection of spices are available at both the Millarville and Okotoks' farmers' markets this summer.
Encouraging Albertans to expand their culinary curiosity overseas, Gollan purchases the spices in their native countries after experiencing the culture and food, and brings them back to Canada to share with fellow Albertans.
Gollan is also known to mix the spices, concocting his own creations and daring others to expand their palate while taking in a cultural experience that spans the globe.
The Millarville Farmers' Market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Millarville Racetrack and the Okotoks Farmers' Market is open Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. just north of Okotoks.
