Champion fiddler Scott Woods headlines the Old Time Country Christmas tour that will be in Okotoks on Nov. 23.

Scott Woods is bringing his Old Time Country Christmas tour to Okotoks.

The champion fiddler and a host of special guests will perform at the Foothills Centennial Centre on Thursday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m.

A true variety show, the Scott Woods Band brings Canadian fiddle music, traditional country, gospel, step dancing and lots of family-friendly humour to the stage.

Woods is a multiple winner of the Canadian Open Fiddle Contest, the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition and was named Canadian Fiddle Entertainer of the Year. He’s also famous for his trick fiddling, where he walks on a barrel and does a running somersault, all while playing his fiddle.

The Old Time Country Christmas show features many of the nostalgic Christmas favourites, some not-so-common seasonal delights, mixing in lots of Canadian Old Time fiddle tunes.

“You certainly don’t have to be a fiddle or country music fan to enjoy the show,” said Woods. “I try to build the show so there is always something different to see and hear and your emotions will vary from excited, happy and fun to serious and sentimental.”

The tour has stops in 43 towns in five provinces over 47 days through November and December.

Joining Woods on his Old Time Country Christmas 2023 tour is his sister, Kendra Norris, who is also a champion fiddler.

Naomi Bristow, Canada’s yodeling cowgirl, and two-time Canadian Open Step Dancing Championship winner Leo Stock are also on the bill.

Tickets ($45 each) are available locally at Sobeys (cash only), online at scottwoods.ca or by calling toll free 1-855-ScottWoods (1-855-726-8896).
