Okotoks resident Helen Brown is a master with a needle and thread.

Helen Brown's dozens of knit, sewn and crocheted wares are a hit at the Millarville Farmers' Market.

An expert with a needle and thread, Helen Brown stops Millarville Farmers’ Market visitors in their tracks with her abundance of bright colours and patterns.

Brown has been selling her variety of knitting, sewing and crocheting at the market for more than 15 years.

Among her selections this season are baby quilts and wraps, bibs, jackets, hand towels, washcloths, runners, place mats, slippers, hats, mittens, utility bags and dog blankets.

Brown attributes her talent to her own mother who taught her to sew, knit and crochet.

These self-made items are known to last longer, despite being a dying art. In addition to selling at the market, Brown also sells her wares from her home in Okotoks.

Check out Brown’s collection at the Millarville Farmers’ Market, which runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Millarville Race Track until Oct. 12.
