Helping children in Canada should be first priority

Dear Editor,

In response to last week’s Canadians need to respond to famine crisis, I must say it is a tragic and heartbreaking situation in Somali and as a mother I cannot even imagine the agony they must go through everyday. However with no disrespect we need to take a look at our own children, the approximate 1.1 million Canadian children that go hungry everyday. The statistics are alarming and I agree more needs to be done all over the world but until every child in Canada goes to bed with a full belly and can concentrate in class because they have had a healthy breakfast my donations are staying in my country. Our children really are our future and we need to do something to help them.

Mr. Mackillop I think there should be more people like you who open their wallets and help those in need, if they can do so.

I strongly believe that we, as Canadians, should take care of each other first. You can visit breakfastclubcanada.org or showkidsyoucare.org for more information or to make a donation.
